ABLOY to Discuss Physical Security Challenges and Technology Integration at SAGSE Central America & Caribbean 2026
June 3, 2026, at the Sortis Hotel Casino
ABLOY will participate in SAGSE Central America & Caribbean 2026, taking place on June 3 at the Sortis Hotel Casino & Convention Center in Panama City. In this interview, the company shares its perspective on the evolution of physical security solutions within the gaming and hospitality industries and discusses the main challenges currently faced by casinos and resorts across Latin America, from theft prevention and access management to the integration of intelligent technologies capable of strengthening security and optimizing operations in real time.
How are physical security solutions evolving in gaming?
Every time a new security challenge is solved, another one tends to emerge. That is why it is essential to stay at the forefront not only of new technologies, but also of the vulnerabilities within existing solutions. In our field, physical security, we specialize in recommending durable products with superior vandal-resistant capabilities, which also helps operators avoid recurring lock replacements and unexpected issues that could delay gaming floor operations.
What challenges do you see in casinos and resorts across LATAM?
I believe there are three key challenges. First, because these venues operate continuously, it is crucial to have durable security equipment and to provide regular maintenance in order to extend its lifespan and ensure optimal performance. We can also mention the most obvious issue: theft, which can be prevented not only with vandal-resistant locks, but also through the integration of additional security solutions. Finally, there is the challenge of properly managing keys and other access devices considering the large volume handled in these facilities. One possible solution is controlled storage through cabinets that allow operators to track in real time who removed a key or access card and when.
How important is the integration between technology and security?
As I mentioned before, integrating different security solutions is extremely important to prevent vulnerabilities. In this regard, every technological advancement in our field is an opportunity to stay one step ahead. We are already seeing significant evolution: cameras, biometric or vandal-resistant access locks, alarm systems, and access controls integrated into a single platform now allow for a rapid response to any suspicious activity. With every new innovation, there is always a new opportunity to take security to the next level.
